THIS IS A RARE BIG BASE HORSE USED ON THE DEMPSTER #1 MILL. IT IS SOMETIMES CALLED THE RAILROAD HORSE DUE TO THE 57 LB. WEIGHT FOR THE BIG MILLS USED TO SUPPLY LOTS OF WATER FOR THE STEAM TRAINS IN THE WEST. IT IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND IS FROM A NYS COLLECTION. A SIMILAR EXAMPLE IS FOUND IN THE BOOK WINDMILL WEIGHTS,SIMPSON,PAGE 68. THE MANE IS RAISED AND HAS INCISED MARKINGS. 21 1/2" TALL X 19" LONG. C.1880-1920.
