THE PURITAN WAS BUILT BY GEORGE LAWLEY & SON YARD IN BOSTON AND LAUNCHED MAY, 26, 1885. THE PURITAN WAS A COMBINATION OF AMERICAN AND ENGLISH DESIGNS. SKIPPERED BY JOHN FORBES. THIS DIORAMA IS IN A FANCY CASE WITH AN AMERICAN SHIELD AND THE NAME W. B. JOHNSON AND PURITAN. IT HAS OLD AGED CRAZED SURFACE WITH PAINTED STARS ON THE SIDES. OLD GLASS ON 3 SIDES. 22 1/2" X 28" X 10". C.1900. FLYING THE AMERICAN FLAG.
